‘UN75’ initiative

Our challenge

  • Video

To commemorate its 75th anniversary in 2019, the United Nations envisioned a video campaign that would spark dialogue around key issues across the globe. We were approached by Vox Media’s award-winning Creative studio to produce the campaign, which would outline ‘megatrends’ on the UN’s agenda for years to come - climate change, shifting demographics, the impact of digital technologies, growing inequity, and new forms of conflict and violence. Our timetable? Two weeks.

Our approach

We sprang into action to develop our concept - the global conversation, featuring interviews with people from all walks of life around the world. We worked closely with Fabrizio Hochschild-Drummond, Special Adviser to the Secretary General, to make sure the video would illustrate the vital aims of the ‘UN75’ initiative. After a speedy development process we sourced crews and talent in Germany, China, Nigeria, Russia, and the United States and went into production. Within two weeks we had a powerhouse piece, shot in a cinematic, split-screen documentary style and featuring subjects of all ages (from 10 to 75) sharing their perspectives with each other. We handled all post-production in house and translated the video into 7 languages, including Arabic, Mandarin, and Russian. The video, titled “Shaping Our Future Together” was presented to the UN by the Secretary General and shown at other UN events this year. We’re proud we put it all together in two weeks without sacrificing our signature attention to visual detail and local textures.
